The water temps have been going up and down for a month or so now with the fish wanting to spawn it is sending them shallow and then they back off to the deeper water . Yesterday we had a good stringer of fish using spinnerbaits in 2 to 5 foot of water. I caught some really nice ones in the backs of coves and creeks. my best bait was the 3/4 oz. "Falcon Special in the and White chartreuse skirt . I caught them on the standard willow and the Magnum willow. Main thing to remember is the speed of retrieve. Slower is better than fast. In cooler water the bite is not always a violent one. if you feel pressure on the line often times that is a fish. This week the water temps were in the low 60's starting the day but by the end of the week they were in the mid 60's. I saw 70 degree water in the backs of shallow pockets in several places.
Time to head to Falcon for some really nice fishing. Tight lines: Jim |
